ATLANTA -- For this week's edition of Best Spots, we have compiled a list of best places to run for beginners, intermediate and advanced runners.

Recently, running has risen in popularity due to people discovering the different benefits it offers. Running has been proven to lessen stress, aid in weight loss and can serve as a method of meditation. According to the Seattle Times, 26.5 million people in the US run 50 days out of the year.

  • Beginners Routes

The Silver Comet Trail is known as “the only truly flat place you can run in Atlanta”. The trail starts near Mavell Road in Smyrna and runs all the way to the Georgia/Alabama line, near Cedartown and Esom. The trail is a favorite among runners searching for a leisurely stroll and good scenery.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

Come out to the Aberdeen Village Center on Saturday, May 7, for Opening Day of the Peachtree City Farmers Market. The market which was formally known as, Fresh South Market will open at 9:00 a.m. and will close at 2:00 p.m. Aberdeen Village is located at 202 Northlake Drive in Peachtree City.

The city of Peachtree City will host their Annual PTC Spring Cleanup at the Peachtree City Recycling Center. According to the Peachtree City Updates newsletter, “PTC residents can drop off unwanted appliances (Freon removed), furniture, and other junk at the Recycling Center on Rockaway Road. The Recycling Center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days.

The 5th annual Geranium Festival Wheelchair Tennis Tournament starts today in McDonough

McDonough, GA --  The 5th annual Geranium Festival Wheelchair Tennis Tournament is scheduled to take place at Richard Craig Park in McDonough, beginning Friday, May 6 and running through Sunday, May 8. Last year’s tournament was such an impressive event that it was named the 2010 USTA Southern Wheelchair Tournament of the Year by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Southern Section.

The annual wheelchair tennis tournament attracts players from around the country who compete in several divisions, including Men’s Open A, B and C singles and doubles, Women’s Open, A singles and doubles and Quad Open A singles and doubles. Matches begin at noon on Friday, and continue all day Saturday and Sunday starting at 9 a.m.

Henry County’s own Henry Havoc Wheelchair Tennis Team will once again be “Servin’ it up Southern Style,” with members Harlon Matthews, Don Carnrike, Jim Dominick, Jerry Vaughan, Donna Chapman, Skip Chapman and Harold Young.

In today’s economy, it’s important to find companionship which, in our opinion, is the cheapest form of entertainment. However, it’s the springtime, and people like to get out every now and then. So, check out these suggestions for fun under $15.

If you had a rough week, take your date to Range, Guns and Safes to blow off some steam. Every Wednesday, this range, located in Forest Park, costs $10 for the first hour of target practice for male/female couples. Subsequent hours are $12 each.
