Fulton County 4-H Fall Festival offers fun for the entire family

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Fulton County 4-H is hosting a Fall Festival on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Fulton Camp Truitt located at 4300 Herschel Road in College Park. Families will enjoy trick or treating, carnival games and crafts, a pumpkin push contest, a pumpkin ring toss, a bobbing for gummy bears contest, and many more fun activities. Everyone is encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.

The Fall Festival is a good time to learn about 4-H and how the program positively  affect their lives by assisting them in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills, and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society.

ATLANTA -- Now that its fall and the weather is cooling down to a decent level and the rain has finally calmed down, this is a great weekend to get out with the family.

Well since this Saturday is also National States Park Day, this is the perfect time to get out with the family for some outdoor fun.

On Sept. 28, you will not pay for admission or for parking to see some of the most beautiful natural beauty that is the Georgia State Parks.

What makes this even better is that there are a ton of events and volunteer acts you can do at the state parks on this day as well.

Fulton County Cooperative Extension sponsors free workshop for budding entrepreneurs

ATLANTA -- Have you ever considered starting your own home-based business? Fulton County Cooperative Extension will sponsor a free workshop on Starting a Home-Based Business on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System’s Central Library, 1 Margaret Mitchell Square, Suite 109, Atlanta.

Participants will gain valuable information to help them start and maintain a successful home-based business. Specific topics will include how to identify fraud and scams billed as business opportunities, space and time needs, identifying factors that contribute to success and much more.  

Fulton County Cooperative Extension hosts monthly classes on a variety of topics such as nutrition, financial management, diabetes and gardening. Classes are held in locations throughout the county.  Call 404-332-2400 for more information.

UNION CITY, Ga. -- Union City's Movies by Moonlight series continues with a showing of Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted.

The popular family movie will be shown Saturday, Aug. 3 at Ronald Bridges Park.

The event will be at Clarence Duncan Memorial Park. Everyone is invited to attend or to apply to be a vendor.

Holiday season begins with a bang in Fairburn

FAIRBURN, Ga. -- The city of Fairburn will kick off the holiday season this weekend with plenty of family fun and even a few surprises.

The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 with holiday performances and a visit from Santa Claus.

At 7 p.m., city officials will light the Fairburn Christmas tree. The lighting will be immediately followed by a new holiday tradition -- Christmas fireworks.

Fairburn's tree lighting will be held adjacent to 5 Southwest Broad Street near the intersection of Roosevelt Highway and Campbellton Street.
