SPARC Is Coming To East Point!

The Miss Georgia Pole Dance Fitness Competition comes to Hapeville Oct. 22nd

Atlanta, GA--  Pole Dance as a women's fitness tool has been gaining in popularity over the past couple of years and instructional studios can be found in almost every section of town.  All this popularity has now led to an Olympic style competition to crown the best fitness pole dancers.

Vertical Joe's, a studio in Hapeville, along with MC Healthcare are hosting  the Vertical Health and Fitness Expo and the Miss Georgia Pole Dance Fitness Competition from October 22nd-26th.  The purpose of this event according to MC Healthcare, is to encourage people to become more active so to reduce the risk of diabetes, obesity , and other major health problems.  In addition, MC Healthcare intends to collect 10,000 additional signatures in support of their petition to make pole dancing an official olympic sport.

Fulton County Rededicates Fire Station #7 in South Fulton

Atlanta, GA--  Fulton County officials gathered Saturday, October 2, 2010 for the rededication of Fire Station #7 in South Fulton County.

The station underwent renovations including HVAC and kitchen upgrades and a repaved driveway.

The rededication of Fire Station #7 also served as the department’s kick-off event for Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme is “Smoke Alarms: A Sound You Can Live With!”  Residents are encouraged to visit their local fire station during Fire Prevention Week to learn more about what steps they can take to prevent fires in their homes.

Union City's City Government is Encouraging all its Residents to Take Part in Operation Pill Drop

Atlanta, GA--  City officials from Union City want all of its residents to be aware of the great pill drop being held on Saturday, Sept 25th.

If you have unused or expired medication, then you need a safe way to expose of it.  They are telling people to visit www.DEA.gov to find a collection area near you.

Old and unused Rx drugs can be very dangerous in our water system and in our trash fills, so you are encouraged to take this opportunity to dispose of your old drugs in a safe way.

NFL Network and Michael Turner of the Atlanta Falcons to Visit Camp Creek Middle School

Atlanta, GA--  NFL Network, Comcast and Atlanta Falcons Kick Off 'Keep Gym in School' at Camp Creek Middle School on Tuesday, September 21st.

On Tuesday, Sept 21 at 10 a.m. Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner, will join NFL Network analyst Jamie Dukes; John Eaves, Chair Fulton County Commission; Dr. Cindy Loe, Superintendent of Fulton County Schools; and 1,000 Students and faculty from Camp Creek Middle School as a part of the “Keep Gym in School” program.

The goal of "Keep Gyms in School" is to help boost fitness and physical education in America's middle schools. This campaign was developed for middle schools across the country who have been forced to cut P.E. out of their daily curriculum.

En Vogue to appear at Labor Day Concert, Sunday Sept. 5

Union City is proud to offer residents and visitors a series of special events in 2010.    

Join us on Sunday, September 5th and celebrate the music of the world famous music group, En Vogue.  Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets.  Listen to great music, enjoy delicious food from our excellent food vendors, or receive one of our free hospitality promotional items.

Gates will open at 6:00 p.m. (Union Station Mall, formerly Shannon Mall) with the actual concert starting at approximately 8:00 p.m.  The mall is located at 1000 Shannon Mall.
