Ga. Renaissance Festival to hold auditions

ATLANTA -- The Georgia Renaissance Festival will hold auditions for its 2015 season later this month.

Auditions will be Saturday, Jan. 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 19 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Little 5 Points Community Center.

The fair is looking for actors, musicians, jugglers, acrobats and other characters for its 30th anniversary season, which begins Saturday, Apr. 18 and runs weekends through Sunday, June 7.

Darnell Senior Facility Artists Walk features creativity of participants and professionals

ATLANTA -- The Harriett G. Darnell Senior Multipurpose Facility hosted its third annual Artists Walk on Thursday, Sept. 25, with dozens of citizens viewing the creativity of Darnell Facility participants and local artists.

The display, which was open Wednesday and Thursday featured personally designed greeting cards, paintings, jewelry, clothing, quilting and other forms of tapestry as well as creatively styled home goods. Those who believe that quilting is a fading art form would have been pleasantly surprised as dozens of colorful and meticulously designed quilts were on display. Participant creations were completed in Darnell Facility creative classes such as art, jewelry making and pottery.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Spend your Sunday evening enjoying an evening of reggae and R&B fusion on Sunday, August 3 at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater.

The evening features reggae star Beres Hammond, The Manhattans, featuring Gerald Alston and Blue Lovett, and the reggae duo Chaka Demus & Pliers. The concert begins at 5 p.m., with concert gates opening at 3 p.m.

Wolf Creek is located at 3025 Merk Road SW in Atlanta.

Tickets for the concert are available through Ticket Alternative and costs are as follows:

• VIP Table seats are $90.00 in advance, $95 on the day of the show. 
• Reserved Rows A o F are $65 in advance, $70 dollars the day of the show
• Reserved Rows G to L are $55 in advance, $60 the day of the show
• General Admission lawn seats are $35 in advance, $40 dollars the day of the show

Online and phone ticket sales close at 3:00 p.m. the day of the show. Concert attendees must be 18 years or older.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Wolf Creek Amphitheater continues the popular Affordable Old School Concert Series on Saturday, August 2 with Tank, Ginuwine, Chubb Rock, RL of Next and Case. The concert host will be comedian Ronnie Jordan.

The All White Party begins at 7 p.m., with concert gates opening at 5 p.m. Wolf Creek is located at 3025 Merk Road, SW in Atlanta.

ATLANTA -- The Harriett G. Darnell Senior Multipurpose Facility and the Friends of Darnell. Inc. will present an “An Evening of Jazz in White” on Saturday, July 19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Seniors will enjoy a variety of Jazz music, light refreshments and fellowship. The event is a fundraiser for the Friends of Darnell Inc.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Treat dad to a special event on Father’s Day at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater’s One Love reggae concert.

Enjoy the food, music and culture of Jamaica with Sanchez, Everton Blender, Admiral Bailey, Frankie Paul and Leroy ‘Heptone’ Sibble. The gates open at 3 p.m., with show time at 5 p.m. Lawn seats are $25 for adults, and children ages 12 and under are free in general admission.

Fulton County Aviation Community Cultural Center to open June 19

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Fulton County Commissioner Emma I. Darnell, District 5, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and Fulton County Arts and Culture, will celebrate the Grand Opening of the Fulton County Aviation Community Cultural Center (ACCC) on Thursday, June 19 at 10 a.m.

The grand opening celebration will kick off three days of activities organized to introduce the new facility to the community and increase awareness of the center, its programming and activities. 

The center is located at 3900 Aviation Circle, Atlanta on the grounds of Fulton County Airport – Brown Field.  It is designed as a community gathering place and will focus on the following types of programming:
