23 students nominated to U.S. military academies |

JONESBORO, Ga. -- Georgia Congressman David Scott has nominated 23 metro Atlanta high school seniors to some of America's most prestigious military academies.

The students will be recognized during a special ceremony Saturday at the National Archives Center at Atlanta in Morrow.

"One of the great privileges I enjoy as the Congressman is to be able to honor the bright and talented students from my district who will one day lead our armed forces," said Scott, who oversees Georgia's District 13.

"I am very proud to nominate this year's group of students to attend our military academies," Scott continued. "America's military is the best and strongest in the world. That is why the academies require exceptional academic achievement and high character of its students to become successful military leaders. Without question, each of the students to be honored in my ceremony . . .possesses these qualities and more. I salute these outstanding young Americans and their commitment to serve."
